Football & Cheer FAQ's
Team organization meetings are held in June and July.
Coaches receive their rosters at the Coaches Clinic on August 2nd.
You will be notified by your coach no later than August 8th.
If you have not heard from your coach by August 8th, please let us know.
Your coach will notify you of your practice location.
Tackle players need shoulder pads, football pants and pads, helments
by Optimist Youth Football.Flag players need white shorts and a
mouthguard. Mouthguards must be colored. No clear mouthguards.
Pictures will be taken at the Jamboree in late August.
Coaches will hand out picture order packets.
The Jamboree is held before each season.
Teams play short offensive and defensive scrimmages and pictures are taken.
Each player steps on the scale before playing in the Jamboree.
This is the last time players are weighed.
The Jamboree is the last date players can be weighed in pads.
Anyone missing the Jamboree MUST be weighed in full gear PRIOR to the Jamboree.
If a player does not make weight for his age group at the Jamboree.
They cannot play in that season.
Games are played on Saturday between 8:00am and 2:00pm.
Most games are played at the Optimist Youth Sports complex on Hill Road in Boise.
Many teams will travel on Saturday to play one of the outside programs.
(Nampa, Kuna, Emmett, Horsehoe Bend, Mountain Home or McCall)
Cheer squad placement organization meetings are held in late July.

Flag football teams do not have cheeleading squads. We can not guarantee placement on any
team due to football weigh-in at Jamboree. However, our first priority
is to place siblings on the same team.
Yes, we can grant a request to place siblings on the same cheerleading
squad as well as friends. Please be sure to indicate your request on the sign-up form.
Cheer camp is held in the summer and gives the cheerleaders an opportunity to meet the other
girls on the squad, learn cheers and proper stretching and techniques.
Dates,times, and locations will be advised.
Cheerleaders should wear comfortable shorts, t-shirts and athletic shoes. They should also
bring water and a small snack.
Cheerleaders will need the following: a white long sleeved turtleneck, black bloomers
or boy-shorts under the cheer skirt and good athletic shoes. We do not require any
specific type or color of athletic shoe.

than those indicated here or in the Cheer Constitution,
